First Amendment Rights

The First Amendment guarantees freedoms concerning religion, expression, assembly, and the right to petition. You see this right dwindling away more and more. Religion and Faith are so important. This county and our state are so deeply tied to many different faiths. It is those faiths that make us unique, but also bring us together in difficult times.

Second Amendment Rights

I am a proud member of the NRA. The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm and use that arm for traditionally lawful purpose. I am 100% in agreement with our right to bear arms and gun ownership. I have grown up around guns both for hunting and protection. I was taught how to properly handle a gun and the importance of legal hunting.

Tenth Amendment Rights

The Tenth Amendment helps to define the concept of federalism, the relationship between Federal and state governments. As Federal government activity continues to get larger, so has the problems with state governments trying to maintain their control. I believe the states must continue to fight and defend their rights. The Federal government continues to overreach and put costly unfunded regulations on our state.

The Fundamental Right to Life

I SUPPORT LIFE! I support the fundamental right to life for the born and unborn. The right to life should be from conception to natural death. I support our legislation that provides a reflection period of 72 hours between providing information for alternatives and the performing of an abortion.

Rights to Educating our Children

I believe it is time for the Federal and State governments to step out of the Education business. It is better for parents, local government bodies under the careful eye of the parents along with teachers to work together to educate our children.

I oppose Common Core and believe the State and Federal governments should not have control.
I support policies to reduce bullying in schools and through social media.
I support School Choice with creative ideas to allow parents financial assistance for Charter schools and school vouchers.
I support a foundation formula that funds education based on the needs of our children rather than the taxing capacity of a school district.
I support public education through tax increases that make sense and are approved by the voters that believe their tax dollars are being used properly.

Smaller Government & No Additional Taxes

I believe that a smaller government works better for the people. We need less regulation. There is too much overreach from both the Federal and State level on local governments. Many local governments are operating more fiscally conservative than the state. They should be a model for other cities and our state. The citizens are being taxed to death! Let the voters decide if a new or additional tax needs to be created then listen to them. There have been elections recently where the voters have decided on something, and the legislature overturns the will of the electret. I will listen to the people and if they decide on a statewide vote, I will not take that away from them!
